DRIFTLESS DRONE DEER RECOVERY

THERMAL IMAGING DEER RECOVERY

Can’t find your deer?

Using a drone mounted with a thermal camera, I can help you locate your lost deer in minutes. Using a drone has several major advantages compared to traditional tracking with dogs.

The Drone Advantage:

  • Flying a drone over private property is NOT trespassing. Class G airspace begins at the ground and is legal to operate in, regardless of property lines.

  • Drones do not disturb land.

  • Drones do not leave a scent.

*Scheduling availability may vary, thank you for your understanding.

Per WI Statute NR 10.07:

No person shall hunt with the aid of an aircraft, including the use of an aircraft to spot, rally or drive wild animals for hunters on the ground.

*DISCLAIMER: Drone use is ONLY for recovering deer that have been shot and lost, NOT to be used for active hunting. If the lost deer is located alive and well, I cannot provide the coordinates.

*DISCLAIMER: Flying over private property is legal, but if a deer is located on private property, you may still need to contact the land owner for permission to recover it.

*DISCLAIMER: If you are located near Fort McCoy or Volk Field, I may not be authorized to fly in that airspace. Please let me know in advance so I can check the airspace chart.

What I like to know:

  • What time was the deer shot?

  • Where was it hit?

  • What was the deer’s behavior like after the shot?

  • Was the deer standing broadside, quartering, or frontal?

  • Was blood located? If so, what did it look like?

  • Was the deer bumped/pushed while tracking?

  • What type of weapon was used?

  • What caliber or type of arrow was used?

  • How far was the shot?

  • Ground or tree blind?

  • What is the terrain like? Did the deer go uphill?

  • What is the tree cover like? Any thick pine tree coverage?

  • Is there water nearby? Ponds, creeks, rivers?

  • Do you have trail camera pictures?

  • Do you have a map? (OnX or similar)

  • Are you able to identify the deer if it is located alive?

I always appreciate knowing these things in advance!
